'I see they're going to allow doctors to prescribe heroin' she said to me. Er, no. The story was that a LibDem (who else?) MP suggested the idea should be discussed at the next LibDem conference. Discussed. Not necessarily to become LibDem policy. Not that the LibDems would be in a position (well, it was around 8 years ago) to dictate policy anyway. But she'd read the screaming headline in the DM and thought that's what 'they' were going to do, that it had, in effect, become law when no-one was looking. Really. You couldn't make it up etc etc.
