Perhaps I am missing something here, but the BNP is an extreme right wing party. Only 1.2% of the electorate voted for them. Presumably, if you were to meet that 1.2% of the electorate in a single room (god forbid) you would consider them to be the extreme right wing lunatic fringe of society. They are voting for the party that represents their interests. So what would the problem with PR be? Ludicrously extreme right-wing fascist party attracts votes from only the most ludicrously extreme right-wing fascist voters? Achieves 3 or 4 seats in parliament but gets totally ignored by all the important parties? I think there are some good arguments against PR, but this isn't one.
