When distant and unfamiliar and complex things are communicated to great masses of people, the truth suffers a considerable and often a radical distortion. The complex is made over into the simple, the hypothetical into the dogmatic, and the relative into an absolute.

I have asserted right from the start of the HPV 'scandal' that the tabloids can be held responsible for the deaths of people who have died unnecessarily from not having the vaccine, both now and in the future. Simply by looking at the number of comments on stories related to the HPV vaccine in which self-proclaimed parents state that they won't be getting their child the vaccine based on the story proves this. I wonder how the average press journalist would react to being told that their work had influenced parents into a decision that ultimately killed a living child. Probably denial; it's how they live their lives anway, the lying scum.
